The Goddess of Prosperity Mata Laxmi & Her Worship

In the Vedic Age, Hindu Goddess Mata Laxmi was not so mentionable, though Goddess Mata Laxmi is known along with “Paurana”, - A Vedic Scripture, in the “Wrick Veda” ( First Part of the Veda)  the word “Laxmi” is defined & denoted as superior quality for once only, “Sree”;- an another name of Goddess Mata Laxmi in the “Purana”, has also been used for few more times to mean distillation, though we find Goddess Mata Laxmi in the name of “Sri Devi” in “Uttorio Aranyak”.

Now we will discuss all about The Confinement/Origin of Goddess Mata Laxmi according to “Bhagbat Puran”:  Goddess Laxmi  is the child of “Maharshi Vrigu” & his wife “Khyati”, even in Hindu Scripture “Bishnupuran” also  defines that “Maharshi Vrigu” & his wife “Khyati” is parent of our Devine Goddess Mata Laxmi and it is also mentioned that she is wife of God “Bishnu” too. According to “Bramhando Purana”, Goddess Mata Laxmi found God “Bishnu” as her husband, and they have two children “Ba (Power)l” & “Utasaha (Energ-*y)”, If we consider this as a rhetorical figure of allegory, then also we derive as a conclusion that “Sree” (Prosperity) is the main source of “Power & Energy”. The work is never encouraging & satisfactory, when we do not find any decency creative what we all desire, and so depression relates de-motivation, results loosing & weakness. It should be kept in mind that the daughter of “Khyati” was mentioned by “Sree” only, but not as Goddess “Laxmi”. In “Pranotoshini Tantra”, it has been mentioned that the penance & hard religious austerity of God “Brahamma” innovated “The Devine of Lord” itself in the Ultimate Lunar of “Chaitra Sukla Navami”.


According to the fundamentals of the “Puranas” & antiquities, at the time of churning of sea, Mata Laxmi possessed God “Sri Bishnu”, when we go through other scripture of “Purana” , Mata Maha Laxmi has been defined that; she was born as a Goddess of Greatest Fortune & Prosperity, in the month of “Falguna”, and in the lunar of “Sri Vrigu Akadoshi” according to the Bengali Calendar, not only as a Goddess of Fortune & Prosperity, even in  the month of “Bhadra” of the Bengali Calendar, Mata Laxmi killed the aggressive & devastating demon “Kolasur”.

“Sri Sri Addya Maa” (The Power), in the scripture “Sri Sri Chandi”, the demon “Mahishasur” was exterminated which is well known as “Epithet of Goddess “Durga”, also renowned as Mata Mahalaxmi who contains octagon; i.e. four hands in the both side of the body. “Bishnu Puranas” also defines identical entity of “Sree Devi” & Goddess “Laxmi”.


The desire which is fulfilled by the blessing of “Mata Laxmi” in her eight different images or idols likewise; “Dhana Laxmi”, “Dhyanya Laxmi”, Adi Laxmi”, Veera Laxmi”, “Gaja Laxmi”, “Vijaya Laxmi”, “Santana Laxmi”, “Aisrya Laxmi” for all human being, Even in West Bengal, India, the rituals of worship of Mata Laxmi (after “Dashera”) is one of the most mentionable, because here, Goddess Laxmi considered as a Goddess of crop, fertile cultivations of agriculture. Here Mata belonged with two hands, one remains filled with the paddy-seeds, and in another is wicker with a lid (wrapped with the hand) which is known as the sources of prosperity.

Mata Laxmi also known & popular with the name of “ Aysarya Laxmi” & “Gaja Laxmi” and the idols are seen with Quadra-Handed. North, West, South part of our nation India and middle of our country India too, also very much affectionate to the image & idol of “Aysarya Laxmi” which is the well thought-out for wealth & prosperity and good fate too. “Gaja Laxmi” which is also known as “Kamala Devi”, here we also find the idol with elephants both side of the Mata Laxmi. Though, hexagonal (Having six arms, three arms both side of the idol/image) “Santana Laxmi” & “Dhana Laxmi” equally popular.


“Mata Mahalaxmi” is empowered with three different indispensable individualities; “Swattawa” “Tamaw” & “Rajaw”. With all this powers she exposed herself “Sree Bishnu Hladini”. Devotion & dedication for Mata Laxmi enables disciple to achieve Happiness, Prosperity,  Good Health, and also make ease to remove debacle & hindrances. The home, where we spent the moments of peace, unconditional love & affairs apart from our busyness or professionalism, may be fruitful when we may keep all the goodness intact even in the day to day evil or negative energies. So as a protection for you & your near & dear ones, also for the other members of your family, you may keep different “Yantrams” according to your need & disturbed areas, but strictly following different rituals of scriptures, following the guidance of acquainted for the same.
